HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Paramount Home Entertainment invites you to experience the mystery of HAMMETT as the crime drama comes to DVD on
November 1. Directed by Academy Award® nominee Wim Wenders (Buena Vista Social Club), HAMMETT features a star-studded cast including, Frederic Forrest
(The Rose), Marilu Henner (TV’s “Taxi”) and Peter Boyle (TV’s “Everybody Loves Raymond”) in a fictionalized mystery thriller about real-life writer Dashiell Hammett who is suddenly immersed in the detective world he has so often created in his novels.

Winner of the Best Picture and Best Actor honors at the 1983 Houston International Film Festival, this crime drama involves writer Dashiell Hammett (Forrest), who is asked by his former boss Jimmy Ryan (Boyle) to assist in the investigation of the mysterious disappearance of a beautiful Chinese cabaret actress in San Francisco. Before long, Hammett is pillaging through San Francisco in an effort to solve the difficult case.

HAMMETT is rated PG in the U.S. and 14A in Canada and has a run time of 97 minutes. The DVD will be available for $14.99 U.S. and C$15.99 in Canada and will be presented in widescreen format with Dolby Digital English Stereo, English subtitles and closed-captioning for the hearing impaired.

The HAMMETT DVD was produced at ZAP Zoetrope Aubry Productions working together with Paramount. ZAP is the offshoot of Francis Coppola’s American Zoetrope. Under the direction of ZAP founder (and long-time Coppola associate)
Kim Aubry, the Zoetrope “DVD Lab” has been in charge of all creative production and technical mastering for the Coppola films on DVD, including “Apocalypse Now Redux,” “The Godfather DVD Collection,” “The Conversation,” “Tucker” and many other titles. ZAP continues in the Zoetrope tradition of creating DVD bonus content in collaboration with the original filmmakers, their heirs and scholars and fans of the films that are being refurbished for release on DVD.
